2009 US Open of Beach Volleyball

Welcome to the official home of The US Open of Beach Volleyball, presented by Corona Extra. Registration for the historic, third annual national beach volleyball event is NOW OPEN.

The event will be played on September 25 - 27, 2009 in the shadows of the historic Manhattan Beach Pier.

The US Open of Beach Volleyball is proud to announce the launch of the new Corona Wide Open, the Official Qualifier Tour of the US Open of Beach Volleyball. The tour is being launched in collaboration between Karch Kiraly, Corona, and the Elevation Group. “I think it’s going to be a throwback,” Kiraly said. “If you look at the old pictures of Manhattan Beach or a number of the sites we played in the 80’s and early 90’s without bleachers, and people just packed row after row around the courts, it’s kind of maybe getting back to a little more of the beach volleyball roots. I think it will be a lot of fun for everyone.”

The Corona Wide Open will stop at some of the most popular U.S. beach volleyball venues as part of an eight-city tour to qualify teams for the 2009 US Open of Beach Volleyball presented by Corona. Winners in eight two-person divisions at each of the Corona Wide Open tournaments will earn an expenses-paid trip and entry fee to the US Open of Beach Volleyball. The eight tour events will mix a festival atmosphere with a beach volleyball tournament.

Given the resurgence of the exciting sport of Beach Volleyball, Karch Kiraly is leading this recent growth through beach volleyball programs such as the US Open of Beach Volleyball.

The Open will bring together hundreds of beach players from across the nation through qualifying tournaments played on the best beaches in the country, in doubles beach volleyball and 4's beach volleyball.

The tournament is sanctioned by USA Volleyball, the National Governing Body of Volleyball in the United States. Divisions for the tournament, along with travel information, schedules and official US Open of Beach Volleyball sponsors are available on this site.

The time to register is NOW! This event is OPEN to all players 16 years and older. Players do not have to have played in a qualifying tournament, so make plans to be part of the culminating beach party of this summer!
